PhD project (2011–2014)

Integrating residents' perspectives and spatial characteristics into the assessment of urban quality of life (within SUPat project NFP65 and Siemens KTI Project).

Educational Background and Professional Experience

Timo v. Wirth graduated from the Technical University (RWTH) Aachen in Economics and Geography with a major in Transportation and Spatial planning.

His thesis covered an empirical study of GIS applications at German airports combined with a case study on the analysis and visualization of market data.
("GIS-Anwendungen für Flughäfen, Visualisierung und Analyse von Marktdaten", RWTH Aachen, 2001)

Among his professional experiences, Timo worked for the Central European Institute of Technology (Vienna/ Schwechat) where he was responsible for developing a cross-border geo-data infrastructure and an indicator based spatial monitoring tool among federal spatial and environmental agencies in Austria and neighbouring countries. He further contributed to the organization of "Architekturdialog Wien" and the Intl. Conference on Urban Planning and Regional Development (CORP) in collaboration with the Technical University Vienna.

Timo was guest lecturer at the Institute of European Urbanism at the Bauhaus-University Weimar in 2006/2007 and course specific team member for ETHsustainability summer schools from 2007.

He obtained his doctoral degree at ETH Zurich in 2014 with research on the integration of residents' perspectives and spatial characteristics into the assessment of urban quality of life.

In addition, Timo did advanced training programs in Systemic Coaching, Mediation and Counseling and is engaged in environmental and spatial mediation and the moderation of participatory processes.
