CS 1998 "Region Klettgau 2: Sustainable regional development"

In the follow-up-study of the ETH-NSSI Case Study 1997 the main question treated was: How can the socio-economical development of the Klettgau area be managed in a sustainable al-lowing the area to protect its unique rural character?

Major points treated in synthesis-groups were:

  • Mobility: Traffic-purposes (working, shopping, leisure), communication of new traffic models (car-sharing, low-consumption cars)
  • Landscape: Evaluation of projects in landscape-protection, project-coordination between Switzerland and Germany, Evaluation of the current situation in the Klettgau area
  • Economy: support for local companies, new types of companies succeeding the traditional industry (gravel-support, brickworks) in the area
  • Settlements: New social inventions, means of energy-use reduction for house-owners
